UAE continues humanitarian aid and support in Afghanistan

The United Arab Emirates is playing an essential role in evacuating thousands of Afghan nationals and foreign citizens from Afghanistan in the wake of the ongoing crisis in the landlocked country. To facilitate the mammoth task, the UAE coordinated efforts with its international partners and boosted global cooperation and solidarity to ensure the continuous provision of humanitarian and relief assistance to Afghan nationals in need. Relevant UAE authorities including the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (UAE) and Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) are working in cooperation with embassies along with Consular and Customs and Border officers in Afghanistan, to accelerate the travel process for evacuees.

In addition, the UAE authorities are ensuring all possible efforts to provide Afghan evacuees with the best quality healthcare and food services as well as housing and sanitation facilities to enhance their wellbeing in the country. Furthermore, a transit hub and processing center have been set up in Abu Dhabi to conduct health and security screenings of passengers arriving from Afghanistan before they move forward to their destination countries. French, Australian, and UK citizens are among the many evacuees received and assisted by UAE authorities during the critical time.

"It is an honor for the UAE to work side-by-side with its partners in the international community to achieve all that serves the interests of the Afghan people, as well as foreign nationals being evacuated from Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds," said Salem Mohammed Al Zaabi, Director of the International Security Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

It is the years of commitment showcased by the UAE leadership to provide a better quality of life to Afghan nationals that are facilitating humanitarian aid and relief assistance to people in need in Afghanistan.
