More than 20 businessmen, politicians, and other individuals connected to Russia have filed a legal case against the Council of the European Union over sanctions imposed against them following the invasion of Ukraine. Roman Abramovich, a former owner of the Chelsea football club, filed a legal case against the council. He was sanctioned in March for allegedly benefiting from his ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He was forced to sell Chelsea after being sanctioned by the British government. Complaints against the EU Reportedly, the complaints have been filed at the European Union's General Court, the bloc's second-highest tribunal. More cases are expected to be filed against the council in the coming days because the EU has announced sanctions against more than 1,100 people and more than 80 companies and entities.
