In an accident that took place at the London Olympic stadium, 29 people were struggling for proper breathing due to the high quantity of chlorine gas in the arena.
They were immediately taken to the hospital from the aquatic center at London’s Olympic Park. On Wednesday, the incident caused some serious injuries to the athletes that included swimmers in both parents as well as toddler groups.
All of them were at the children’s pool at the time of the incident, which was reported by the park after 11am the same day. The officials also asserted that they managed to evacuate nearly 200 people who were present at the site.
The firefighters and the paramedics also managed to help at least nine of the construction workers who were injured during the accident.
\In a report that included the statement from Darren Farmer, an official from the ambulance available at the site said, “Our crews took 29 patients to hospital and assessed a further 48 patients at the scene. The majority of patients were reporting minor breathing difficulties.”
He also stressed that they managed to handle the situation by sending a significant number of resources at the correct moment. They had sent 13 ambulance crews along with advanced paramedics and two medics in fast response cars.
They had also sent incident response officers and a medical adviser. To provide immediate relief, they had also dispatched medical help from London’s air ambulance. As far as the reason behind such an incident is considered, the London fire brigade (LFB) explained that excess chlorine was released due to some chemical reaction.
