Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) aim to open for application in two weeks. It also aims to open a special expedited family sponsorship program for permanent residents.

Reportedly, Ukrainians who come to Canada under these special measures will be able to apply for open work permits. They can work anywhere in Canada. More information about these special measures will be available in the coming days.

Canada will allow unvaccinated Ukrainians to enter the country if they have a temporary resident visa. The Canadian authorities will also process travel documents for Canadians who wish to return from Ukraine.

Reportedly, Ukrainian nationals in Canada can apply to extend their status as visitors, students, or workers. IRCC will issue open work permits to Ukrainian visitors, workers, and students.

The United States also offered tens of thousands of Ukrainians living in the U.S. temporary humanitarian protection from deportation because of the Russia-Ukraine war. The Ukrainians will remain in the US under a form of humanitarian relief, which is known as Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Reportedly, Some 30,000 Ukrainians on visas could benefit from this protected status.
