 The Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022, India's biggest drone festival, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with over 70 exhibitors showing various drone models.

What Is India's Biggest Drone Festival?

The 'Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022' is a two-day event in Delhi's Pragati Maidan (May 27-28). This event is also known as India's biggest drone festival.

Pm Modi inaugurated India's Biggest Drone Festival & encouraged all those who were willing to take part in tech & innovation to watch the drone program. He said,

"This forum brings together key stakeholders including startups with the aim of increasing India's presence in the sector."

Drones’ Usage In Agriculture, Defense, Sports & Surveillance

After the inauguration of the drone festival, PM Modi said,

"Use of drones will rise in sectors such as agriculture, sports, defense, and disaster management. India has the potential to become a global drone hub.”

"There was an environment of ‘indifference’ towards the use of technology in governance before 2014," he added.

Drone Industry To Reach ₹15,000 Cr Turnover

According to Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia, currently, there are 270 drone startups operating in India.

He addressed the 'Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022' event & stated,

"It is estimated that the drone industry will reach 215,000 crore turnover by the year 2026."

Surprise Inspection of Govt Work

PM Narendra Modi hinted at how he deploys drones for ‘surprise inspections’ of the government work while addressing the two-day Bharat Drone Mahotsav. He said,

"If I want to check the quality of government work, I don't...inform in advance. Because then everything will be in place. If I send a drone, the requisite information is collected and officials don't even get to know."

PM Narendra Modi flew a drone developed by Asteria Aeronautics Limited, a Bengaluru-based startup, at the Bharat Drone Mahotsav in Delhi on Friday. The drone that PM Modi flew is designed for security and surveillance for various industries.
