US State Department OKs sale of C-17 aircraft support to UAE

US State Department OKs sale of C-17 aircraft support to UAE

The US and the UAE have tentatively agreed to a $980.4 million deal for "upgrades and sustainment" of the UAE's fleet of C-17 cargo planes. The State Department's ratification of the agreement was warmly received by the UAE embassy in the US, which also praised the aircraft's contribution to the delivery of COVID-19 and humanitarian goods.

The embassy tweeted about the agreement, stating that "the C-17 fleet has been the workhorse of the UAE's Covid aid distribution efforts [and] employed in direct support of joint UAE-US security activities."

The World Food Programme's director, David Beasley, tweeted a video of essential supplies being unloaded from the C-17 at the moment.

"I picked up the phone and called President Sheikh Mohamed, telling him we needed help."Mr. Beasley declared, "People are in pain."

"He responded, "We will help," without even batting an eye. Mohamed bin Zayed, my dear brother, is appreciated by the people of the UAE and the government for his kindness in saving lives.

The enormous aircraft was created in the 1980s, and its first flight took place in the 1990s. It is known for transporting both passengers and freight across the globe. It is 53 meters long and has a wingspan of 51 meters. It is propelled by four motors.

The Emirates has made excellent use of the cargo plane as part of the international response to the COVID-19 outbreak. In 2020, when the first infectious waves wreaked havoc on the globe, the UAE sent one of its C-17 aircraft to Ghana with components for a field hospital to assist a UN mission tasked with defending aid personnel.

A peaceful, safe, and wealthy Middle East is something that the US and the UAE have been collaborating on. In a variety of matters relating to regional security, the UAE is an essential US ally. The United States collaborates with the United Arab Emirates and other GCC nations to strengthen border and maritime security, military readiness, cybersecurity, and counterterrorism.

Supporting American interests throughout the region has been made possible thanks to cooperation between the UAE and the US. U.S. foreign policy and national security interests are served by security cooperation and weapons sales with the UAE. Such sales increase partner nations' ability to cooperate with American forces and better serve their own legitimate military requirements, promoting regional stability.

The UAE contributed to the relief efforts for the earthquake in Afghanistan on July 2 by sending three planes with supplies, including a 1,000 square meter field hospital.

Bangladesh Military Expresses Discontent Over Chinese Weapons; Reports 'Sub-Standard' and Faulty Parts

Bangladesh, a traditional buyer of Chinese military equipment, has raised grievances with Beijing regarding the delivery of defective components and technical malfunctions in its imported military hardware. This issue is not unique to Bangladesh, as other nations like Myanmar have also encountered problems with Chinese fighter jets, according to an ET report. Experts in the Chinese defense industry argue that Beijing lacks the expertise to manufacture highly sophisticated military hardware and is not yet considered a top-tier producer of modern defense equipment. They claim that much of China's weapon systems are based on outdated technology copied from the West. Developing countries often opt for Chinese weapons due to their lower cost compared to similar systems from Western countries. China sells arms through state-run export organizations like the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), NORINCO, and CVIC. Sources familiar with the matter told ET that the Bangladesh mil
