Cyber Security Council implements "Preventive Shield" for education sector

This was done in collaboration with strategic partners from educational institutions and national universities in the nation.

The "Defensive Shield" exercise in the education sector is one of a number of cyber attack simulation exercises designed to identify monitoring and response mechanisms that improve educational institutions' capacity to deal with cyber incidents and respond to them proactively and competently. In order to train different educational institutions and evaluate their capabilities in the areas of crisis management, rapid response to electronic incidents, and a comprehensive vision of cyber security to support the nation's defense operations against various cyberattacks, the "Defensive Shield" exercise included simulated scenarios of a series of cyberattacks in a controlled environment.

In light of the country's rapid technological advancement and efforts to improve the quality of digital life in line with the UAE's leading position globally as a developed and developed country in the field of cybersecurity and protection of digital space from By dealing with the "Defensive Shield" exercise, the education sector helps to improve communication and boost the capabilities of the response center teams participating in the exercise.

According to Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, the UAE Government's Head of Cyber Security, the "Defensive Shield" exercise in the education sector is part of a larger effort to improve the capacity of the nation's vital sectors—especially the education sector—to respond to emergency cyberattacks and to protect it through a series of steps that keep up with the highest international standards.

He continued by saying that the "Defensive Shield" exercise in the educational sector and the widespread participation in training show the great interest in improving the effectiveness of all involved work teams, as well as strengthening coordination to deal with emerging cyber threats and incidents, setting appropriate proactive plans to deal with various scenarios, and ensuring the readiness of cyber operations centers.

The Chief of Cyber Security noted that the training scenarios covered training on safeguarding networks, information systems, and cloud computing, as well as detection and protection of malware, ransomware, cyber targeting campaigns, malware analysis, reverse engineering, and internal threat.

It's important to note that the "Defensive Shield" exercise focuses on a variety of strategic sectors, helping to improve their cyber capabilities, develop and implement operational steps to monitor and respond to different cyberattacks and incidents, and identify doable steps to improve planning and performance in line with international best practices.
