Elon Musk Effect: Whoopi Goldberg And Gigi Hadid Quits Twitter

 American TV host, actor, and comedian Whoopi Goldberg has announced her exit from Twitter. She announced her exit on her talk show The View. She is another celebrity to leave Twitter after Elon Musk purchased the micro-blogging site.

Whoopi Goldberg reportedly said, “It’s been a little over a week since Elon Musk took over Twitter and this place is a mess. So I’m gonna get out. If it settles down enough and I feel more comfortable maybe I’ll come back. But as of now, I’m done with Twitter.”

During the talk show, she also highlighted how Twitter had shut down Kathy Griffin‘s account for pretending to be Elon Musk.

On Sunday, the world’s richest man said that Twitter would ban accounts that impersonate others. He also said that any name change could lead to a temporary loss of a verified check mark.

Earlier, American supermodel Gigi Hadid also left Twitter. She announced her exit from Twitter on Instagram. She criticized Musk on Instagram. She reportedly wrote, “For a long time, but especially with its new leadership, it (Twitter) is becoming more and more of a cesspool of hate & bigotry.” Hadid also highlighted that the Human Rights team had been laid off at Twitter.

Musk took over the micro-blogging platform last week and ever since many famous celebrities have spoken out against him and have left Twitter. Shonda Rhimes also left Twitter. Singer Toni Braxton also left Twitter. 

Braxton reportedly wrote, “Hate speech under the veil of ‘free speech is unacceptable; So, I am choosing to stay off Twitter as it is no longer a safe space for myself.”

After purchasing the social media giant, Musk bought various changes to the platform. Twitter also banned a few verified accounts with millions of followers.
