On November 21, N Jagadeesan, a batsman for Tamil Nadu who also played for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, became the first man to ever score five consecutive centuries in men's List A cricket, cementing his place in history.
According to Scroll, the 26-year-old batsman broke the previous record for the highest individual score in men's List A cricket by edging out Alistair Brown and Rohit Sharma.
At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the cricketer opened the batting against Arunachal Pradesh and slammed 277 runs off 141 balls with 25 fours and 15 sixes.
B Sai Sudharsan and Jagadeesan contributed to a massive 416-run first wicket, with B Sai Sudharsan scoring 154 runs off 102 balls. As a result, Tamil Nadu set a new record for the highest team total in men's List A cricket with a massive final total score of 506/2.
Jagadeesan scored 114*, 107, 168, and 128 runs in each of his previous four Vijay Hazare Trophy contests, respectively.
The Tamil Nadu batter had previously tied the Vijay Hazare Trophy record for the most tonnes (four) in a single season, which was previously held by Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Prithvi Shaw.
But he also set a new record for men's List A cricket with his performance against Arunachal on Monday.
Although Jagadeesan had previously competed in seven IPL games for CSK, the four-time IPL champions recently released him, according to Scroll.
