How Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan handle trolls

Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan have been in the news for various reasons. Recently, they attended KIFF (Kolkata International Film Festival), wherein they talked about censorship in films. Subsequently, fans started trolling them on social media.

Amitabh Bachchan, who has never willingly been into a political controversy, also came into the limelight. It seemed that he had enough of Bollywood being bullied by trolls. A major fight erupted between two political parties TMC (Trinamool Congress) and BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) over comments made by actor Bachchan.

Bachchan's comments on freedom of expression resulted in controversy. Arijit's song 'Rang de tu mohe gerua (colour me saffron)' also increased political tension.

Shahrukh’s speech at the KIFF also led to a political rift. He talked about the negative influence of social media. His comments came amid the controversy surrounding his upcoming film ‘Pathaan’. Deepika Padukone’s swimsuit colour in the ‘Besharam rang’ song of the film increased political tension between the TMC and the BJP. Indirectly pointing at the trolls, the Bollywood superstar said that social media is “driven” by the “narrowness of views.”

BJP political leaders said that the colour disrespected the party because the logo of the BJP is in orange colour. Girish Gautam, the Speaker of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, also raised questions about the actress’ attire. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) also demanded actors to apologise and delete the song. The calls to boycott the film also increased tension among members. Bachchan also talked about how films suffer due to censorship.

It looked like the actor is positively taking the social media trolls. He said, “No matter what the world does, people like us will stay positive.” The ceremony was also attended by West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee and Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha.
