Ramadan 2023: How UAE is preparing for the holy month

 The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has started preparing for the holy month of Ramadan. The residents have been stocking up on their essentials for Ramadan 2023. Supermarkets and retail stores across the UAE are offering huge discounts and special offers on various products for the holy month. 

Carrefour, a French multinational retailer in the UAE, started a Ramadan campaign to offer 50% discounts on more than 6,000 products. Bernardo Perloiro, Chief Operating Officer-GCC, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, reportedly said, “We see a rise in the shopping of food items, especially essential ingredients like cooking oil.”

Ramadan in the UAE will begin on March 23. It is the most auspicious time of the year for Muslims across the world. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, which is celebrated by Muslims worldwide with excitement, happiness, pomp, and grandeur.

Ramadan is marked as a month of hope, happiness, prayers, fasting, reflection and community. Muslims observe fast along with their friends and family. 

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) of the UAE also announced the official working hours for private-sector employees during Ramadan. The MoHRE also said that the number of working hours would be reduced by two during the auspicious month. 

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) also reduced the working hours for ministries and federal authorities during Ramadan 2023. The working hours would start from 9 am to 2.30 pm from Monday to Thursday during the holy month. 

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the educational quality assurance and regulatory authority of the government of Dubai, announced that private schools in Dubai would be allowed to offer distance learning classes every Friday during the holy month. 

Residents in Dubai will also need to obtain permits to distribute Iftar meals during the holy month, according to the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai.

Israel issues latest forced evacuation order in areas in Khan Younis

  The Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, has issued the latest forced evacuation order for civilians living in nine areas in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
