Elon Musk's Twitter rebranding run into Indonesia's anti-pornography laws

Elon Musk's Twitter rebranding run into Indonesia's anti-pornography laws

The Elon Musk-led Twitter has hit a few stumbling blocks in its transition to an "everything app" called X. The iconic blue bird was unceremoniously retired this week as the billionaire tycoon announced a change of logo and plans for a broader transformation into ‘X.com’. However, the Republic of Indonesia prohibited access to the new website, claiming anti-pornography legislation.

Under its strict anti-pornography laws, the Muslim-majority country, Indonesia, with a population of 270 million blocked access to X.com, previously Twitter, on Tuesday. According to officials, the domain has a history of being associated with gambling and obscenity.

According to a Telegraph report quoting Ministry of Communication officials of Indonesia, they were awaiting approval from Elon Musk's company on the domain. For the past six years, the website has been left blank except for a single letter x.

According to analysts and marketing agencies, Musk's new plan cost anywhere from $4 billion to $20 billion in value. The business began deleting the term "Twitter" from its headquarters sign on Monday.

Despite various changes in recent months, Twitter has managed to become a verb, infiltrating the global language. The micro-blogging site is still popular.

The social media company came under the scanner when Mashable reported that Twitter had seized the "X" username from the original owner without payment or notice.

Mashable claimed that the original "X" username belonged to a Twitter user, Gene X Hwang, who had used the logo since 2007. He received no monetary compensation from Twitter for his "X" logo.

Earlier this month, Elon Musk also launched his artificial intelligence startup xAI. He also pledged to build a safer AI.

Musk previously stated that a smarter AI than humans can be available in five or six years. He believed that artificial intelligence would one day outperform human intelligence.

Bangladesh Military Expresses Discontent Over Chinese Weapons; Reports 'Sub-Standard' and Faulty Parts

Bangladesh, a traditional buyer of Chinese military equipment, has raised grievances with Beijing regarding the delivery of defective components and technical malfunctions in its imported military hardware. This issue is not unique to Bangladesh, as other nations like Myanmar have also encountered problems with Chinese fighter jets, according to an ET report. Experts in the Chinese defense industry argue that Beijing lacks the expertise to manufacture highly sophisticated military hardware and is not yet considered a top-tier producer of modern defense equipment. They claim that much of China's weapon systems are based on outdated technology copied from the West. Developing countries often opt for Chinese weapons due to their lower cost compared to similar systems from Western countries. China sells arms through state-run export organizations like the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), NORINCO, and CVIC. Sources familiar with the matter told ET that the Bangladesh mil
