US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin are scheduled to visit Delhi in November this year to address various critical issues related to the regional security and strategic ties between India and the United States, according to insider sources.
During their visit, these two high-ranking US officials will hold discussions with their Indian counterparts, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, to delve into the complete spectrum of the India-US strategic partnership and explore ways to enhance and fortify these connections, as reported by sources to India Today TV.
Antony J. Blinken and Lloyd Austin are also expected to engage in conversations on regional security concerns, including the ongoing military standoff on India's northern borders with China.
India and the United States are both members of the QUAD grouping, which is dedicated to ensuring security in the Indo-Pacific region, where India plays a substantial role. The discussions might also encompass the Hamas-Israel conflict in the Gaza region, with a focus on containment to prevent further escalation.
The implications of the Russia-Ukraine war on global security are likely to be a part of the dialogue.
Furthermore, India and the United States will discuss defense hardware cooperation, with India having committed to purchasing over $3 billion worth of Predator drones and related systems. India has been one of the largest purchasers of American weaponry over the last few decades, and further collaboration in this domain is anticipated in the future.
