In the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung battering the coast, the district of Chennai, a prominent tech-and-auto hub in southern India, continues to grapple with severe flooding. Despite the passage of four days since the cyclone hit, numerous individuals remain stranded, and key manufacturing plants in the region remain closed.
Volunteers are navigating through stagnant water to distribute essential food and supplies to those affected by the deluge. The relentless torrential rains, which commenced on Monday, have resulted in extensive flooding, leading to the unfortunate demise of at least 14 people, with the majority of casualties reported in Chennai and the state of Tamil Nadu.
Cyclone Michaung itself made landfall further north in Andhra Pradesh state on Tuesday afternoon, compounding the challenges faced by the affected regions. The ongoing humanitarian efforts aim to provide assistance to those in need and address the consequences of the devastating flooding in Chennai.
