In Punjab, people rush to fuel stations as supplies run dry

In Punjab, a surge in demand for fuel has led to long queues forming outside gas stations, following disruptions in fuel supplies due to a transporter strike.

On Tuesday, residents in Punjab faced extended wait times at fuel pumps as the scheduled fuel deliveries failed to reach the state for the past three days. Ishwinder Mongia, the President of the Mohali Petrol Pump Association, conveyed that numerous fuel pump owners had informed him about the absence of expected fuel supplies.

Mongia expressed concern, stating that approximately 70 percent of fuel pumps in the state were anticipated to run out of fuel by the evening. He expressed hope that the transporters would soon resume operations to restore the fuel supply.

A resident of Mohali, Jasbir Singh, shared his experience, revealing that a friend had advised him to refuel his car promptly due to the impending scarcity of fuel. Filling up his car at Landran, Jasbir echoed the sentiments of many, highlighting the urgency felt by residents to secure fuel amid the ongoing disruption.
