The Cost of Speaking Out: Al-Jolani’s Government Escalates Repression in Syria

 

The administration of Abu Mohammad al-Jolani in Syria's northwestern territories stands accused today of committing numerous human rights violations because their security forces indiscriminately arrest activists alongside journalists and political activists. These actions cause international human rights organizations together with observers to express serious worries.

Escalation of Arbitrary Arrests
Under the leadership of al-Jolani the established organization Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) uses violence to suppress dissent along with arbitrary detentions and brutal treatments of activists and journalists and other civilians targeted for criticism.
