A package containing uranium was discovered at London's Heathrow Airport, according to British police, who claimed they have started an investigation into the matter.
On December 29, authorities said, border agents, found the package during a regular search. The Sun, which broke the news, stated that the box came from Pakistan and arrived on an aircraft from Oman.
According to the BBC, the uranium was discovered in a consignment of scrap metal, and authorities were trying to determine whether Pakistan's "poor handling" was to blame.
Police commander Richard Smith told British media, "I want to reassure the public that the amount of tainted material was extremely little and has been assessed by professionals as posing no concern to the public.
Even though our investigation is still underway, so far, it doesn't seem to be connected to any immediate danger.
