In a phone call with Prime Minister Shiaa al-Sudani on Friday, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed addressed enhancing bilateral cooperation with Iraq.
According to a report from Emirates News Agency, the two leaders talked about "different sectors of collaboration and joint effort between the two countries, and means of developing them to accomplish their common objectives."
The two allegedly discussed other matters of common interest and reaffirmed their desire to speak further.
The phone contact comes a day after Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan conducted a joint press conference in Baghdad to emphasise the crucial role Iraq plays in bolstering regional stability.
On Thursday, Prince Faisal arrived in Baghdad for a formal visit and discussions about strengthening bilateral relations.
Additionally, US President Joe Biden's top Middle East adviser, Brett McGurk, visited Jordan and Iraq last month. He allegedly spoke with the prime minister of Iraq.
Iraq is struggling to recover from four decades of war and upheaval and is beset by widespread corruption.
The country's central bank governor was fired in late January as the local currency continued to depreciate in relation to the US dollar. The market value of the Iraqi dinar has decreased recently as compared to the dollar, which led to Mustafa Ghaleb Mukhif's resignation as director of the Central Bank of Iraq.
