The UAE President pardons 1,025 prisoners ahead of Ramadan 2023

The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ), has pardoned 1,025 prisoners ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

Ramadan 2023 is expected to begin in the UAE on Wednesday. UAE’s directives to pardon prisoners are in line with humanitarian efforts to rehabilitate prisoners and reduce the burden on their families. Every year in Ramadan, the UAE leader offers pardons to hundreds of inmates to give them a second chance at life.

During the holy month of Ramadan, the UAE seeks to deliver support and aid to people in need across the world. Recently, the UAE has launched the “1 Billion Meals Endowment” initiative in order to remove hunger from the world and provide sustainable food aid to people in need. The “1 Billion Meals Endowment” campaign will implement sustainable programmes globally to raise enough funds for one billion meals for hungry people around the world. The initiative is expected to start on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister, and the Minister Of Defence of the UAE as well as the ruler of Dubai, launched the initiative to help the needy people. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, “We launch the campaign with the aim of sustainably providing hundreds of millions of meals to people in need.”

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) launched campaigns to help people in need. It also launched the ‘1 Billion Meals’ initiative to help poor and hungry people in Bangladesh. Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Secretary-General of the MBRGI lauded the efforts of the UAE in helping people in need.

Ramadan is the ninth and holiest month in the Islamic calendar. It is the biggest festival for Muslims.
