Amber Heard makes first public appearance since losing defamation trial against Johnny Depp

Amber Heard, one of the most popular Hollywood actresses, has made her first public appearance since the famous American actor Johnny Depp, her ex-husband, was found not guilty in her defamation case.

Amber Heard attended the Taormina Film Festival in Italy on Friday, the day before the world premiere of her new movie, "In the Fire." She wore a white T-shirt and a wrap-around skirt for the prestigious event.

Reports state that Amber Heard's character in the supernatural thriller film "In the Fire" is a psychiatrist who is "called to solve the case of a disturbed child following increasingly insistent accusations that the child is the devil.”

A video of Heard's appearance at the festival was shared on Twitter with the caption, "This is bravery and strength you're seeing in this video. No matter how hard the world attempted to break her, this lady refused to be broken. I can only hope to be half as courageous as Amber Heard."

More than a year after she lost the defamation trial against Depp, Heard made her first public appearance at the event. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor sued Heard for $50 million, saying she defamed him in an opinion piece about sexual assault she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018. He claimed that the post defamed him and affected his image. The six weeks trial was in favor of Depp. The jury asked Heard to pay Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive penalties after Depp won the lawsuit. Heard's countersuit against Depp had given her a $2 million compensatory damages verdict from the jury.

Earlier this year, rumors emerged that Heard had quit Hollywood. However, she told her fans in a TikTok video that she had several films lined up and had not quit acting.
