France’s Hidden Battle – The Muslim Brotherhood’s Long Game Against Secularism

How The Brotherhood Is Secretly Attacking French Culture

While France watches closely for jihadist actions, a slower and more dangerous risk emerges: the Muslim Brotherhood spreading its influence through organisations. A leaked government document explains how anti-secular efforts are carried out by taking advantage of legal frameworks.

How the Brotherhood Worked in France
Mosques acting as Places to Sign Up

139 mosques receive support from the Brotherhood and an additional 68 are influenced by them—these make up 7% of all Muslim places of worship in France.Preachers bring together simplistic Salafist and strong Brotherhood theories, mainly to influence young people.

Political Entryism

The movement invites people to join government councils and non-profit organisations to move changes in laws related to secularism and gender.Municipal Islamism is reported as a situation where Islamist groups impact local government decisions.

Using social services for wrong reasons

People who use help from these charities often feel they must remain loyal and dependant on the group, as aid comes with ideological restrictions.

Reports about Cases of Extremism with Brotherhood Involvement

In 2020, a network that was receiving money from abroad to grow Brotherhood influence was broken up by French authorities.Members have spread messages promoting hatred towards French secularism and some of these individuals have been arrested.

The impact of the Response may have been too small and too late.

The President directs that children aged 14 and under should not be allowed to wear headscarves and that close monitoring of religious schools should be put in place 8. Yet others say France should fully outlaw the Brotherhood, as the UK had planned to do, some time ago.

Ultimate Point: Secularism Is Under Threat

The Brotherhood does not seek to terrorise right away but instead to gradually take over your culture.
