Dubai Man Buys World's Most Expensive 'P 7' Number Plate For $15 Million

A man in Dubai bought the ‘P 7’ registration plate for his car for 55 million dirhams, which equates to $15 million. The wealthy man bought the world’s most expensive number plate from the ‘Most Noble Numbers’ auction on Saturday.

Emirates Auction LLC, the first and the largest online auction in UAE (United Arab Emirates) and the Middle East for cars, sold plate number P 7 to the man.

The auction took place at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai located in the Jumeirah region of Dubai. Many people participated in the auction. It featured numbers like AA19, AA80, O71, AA22, W78, Z37, X36, H31, N41, and J57. The number plates AA19 and O71 were sold for AED 4.9 million and AED 15 million, respectively. The Q22222 number plate was sold for AED 975,000.

Before the launch of the auction, the host of the event said, "Sixteen years ago, a world record was set in Abu Dhabi when a number plate was sold for Dh52.5 million. Will we set a new world record?"

The event took place to support the "1 Billion Meals Endowment" campaign, launched by  His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE as well as the Ruler of Dubai. The amount generated from the auction will support the largest Ramadan sustainable food aid endowment fund.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the campaign in March in order to implement sustainable programmes worldwide to eradicate hunger. While launching the campaign, he said, “Even a small but sustainable contribution makes a bigger difference than a one-time large contribution.”

The UAE also launched the ‘1 Billion Meals’ initiative to help Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. The campaign was launched under the guidance of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI).

Bangladesh Military Expresses Discontent Over Chinese Weapons; Reports 'Sub-Standard' and Faulty Parts

Bangladesh, a traditional buyer of Chinese military equipment, has raised grievances with Beijing regarding the delivery of defective components and technical malfunctions in its imported military hardware. This issue is not unique to Bangladesh, as other nations like Myanmar have also encountered problems with Chinese fighter jets, according to an ET report. Experts in the Chinese defense industry argue that Beijing lacks the expertise to manufacture highly sophisticated military hardware and is not yet considered a top-tier producer of modern defense equipment. They claim that much of China's weapon systems are based on outdated technology copied from the West. Developing countries often opt for Chinese weapons due to their lower cost compared to similar systems from Western countries. China sells arms through state-run export organizations like the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), NORINCO, and CVIC. Sources familiar with the matter told ET that the Bangladesh mil
